Gavin Herd

Practice Manager

Gavin heads up the clerking team as Practice Manager of Compass Chambers and ensures that the team works well together and provides the best possible service to Compass members and to customers. Gavin has an LLB from the University of Edinburgh and worked for the Legal Department of a Local Authority before joining the Faculty in 2001. Gavin has extensive experience as an Advocate's clerk having been a Deputy Clerk in another stable for 9 years before taking over the Practice Manager role with Compass in January 2011.

Lesley Hogg

Deputy Clerk

Lesley joined Compass as a Deputy Clerk in January 2013. Lesley is one of the most experienced Deputy Clerks in Scotland, having worked in both Criminal and Civil stables for a period of 13 years before joining Compass.

Erica Marmo

Deputy Clerk

Erica joined Compass as a Deputy Clerk in November 2015. Erica has a BA Honours degree in Law & Management and brings with her over 10 years’ experience as a Deputy Clerk, joining the Faculty in 2004, having worked in 2 other civil stables previously. Erica works 3 days a week on Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday.

Leona Crosby

Deputy Clerk

Leona joined Compass as a Deputy Clerk in September 2019. She has a wealth of experience in the Legal sector having spent over 20 years at Simpson and Marwick / Clyde & Co. Her confident, assured and friendly manner has allowed Leona to quickly establish herself within the Clerking Team. Leona works 4 days a week from Monday – Thursday.

Lucy McConville

Deputy Clerk

Lucy joined Compass as a Deputy Clerk in September 2019. Lucy has a BA Honours degree in Business Management and, despite having no previous experience of working in the Legal sector, her confidence and enthusiasm has allowed her to learn quickly and seamlessly become part of the Clerking team. Lucy works 3 days a week on Wednesday, Thursday and Friday.

Jamie Black

Deputy Clerk

Jamie joined Compass as a Deputy Clerk in March 2023 having worked for the Faculty since May 2017. He brings great experience from his previous roles with Faculty working with the Credit Control, Feeing and Cash teams. His friendly and enthusiastic approach has allowed him to settle quickly into the team.
