Year of Call 2014
Grant called to the Bar in 2014 after 10 years working as a Solicitor and Solicitor Advocate. Since calling to the Bar he has developed a varied practice covering Compass Chambers core areas of Reparation, Professional Negligence and Regulatory Crime.
In the field of Personal Injury, Grant is regularly instructed on behalf of both Pursuers and Defenders and has conducted cases in the Court of Session and the Sheriff Court.
Grant has a wealth of experience in criminal cases, that having been the focus of his workload as a solicitor before calling to the Bar. He has appeared in a significant number of trials in relation to financial crime, road traffic prosecutions, death by dangerous driving and many others. Grant also has experience in cases involving proceeds of crime.
He has also developed a clinical and professional negligence practice which includes dental and nursing negligence.
Grant has experience of commercial litigation in both the Sheriff and Commercial Court of the Court of Session. This includes litigation involving partnership disputes, insolvency, claims by shareholders and contractual disputes.
Grant has acted at appellate level in relation to actions of defamation. These have included defamatory statements alleged to have been made anonymously in group email communications and by the inclusion of hyperlinks as being defamatory.
