Barry’s principal areas of practice include the core areas of Chambers’ business, with an emphasis on regulatory crime. He appears regularly in the Court of Session, the High Court of Justiciary and Sheriff Courts throughout Scotland. A graduate of Harvard Law School, he remains involved in academic work, teaching and vocational legal training.
His regulatory practice includes financial crime, computer crime and environmental offences. He regularly advises and represents those charged with offences arising from fatal road traffic accidents. His principal specialism is in the defence of charges under the Health and Safety at Work etc Act 1974 and related Regulations. He acts for major clients in the engineering, oil & gas, rail, construction, transport and retail industries. He is recommended in both Legal 500 and Chambers (Band 1) in Health and Safety.
